I provide both Sports Massage and Remedial Massage. I aim to help you get well and stay well!! Sports Massage is an essential ingredient in optimising your performance. It improves and maintains the condition of your muscles and other soft tissues, and so helps you: * Improve your performance! - Your muscles work at their best. * Reduce the risk of injury! - Run the full course without the worry of pulling that calf muscle or hamstring. * Recover from events & injury quicker & better! Remedial & Sports Massage can help you with all sorts of musculoskeletal problems. It can help pulled muscles and sprained joints to repair well. If you are in pain due to muscle problems, the first thing to address is that pain. However, by looking at your posture, I can also help you to stop the pain from coming back. This therapy will also help you to keep your muscles in good condition, and so optimise your performance. It will also help your recovery from injury.

I was suffering chronic lower back pain and was recommended to Derek - he quickly diagnosed that my posture was the main cause of the problem and suggested exercises to improve this. He also has discovered that the main cause of the back problems is actually related to muscle tightness and tenderness in my thighs and has been working on thses regions in the last few sessions. Whilst he does not promise an instant cure I have noticed definite improvement within a few sessions. Derek is also very personable and easy to talk to. He shows a great interest in his work and always seems keen to learn more about the subject and educate his clients also. I would recommend him for sports massage but please do not expect a relaxing time - this is an intense muscle workout and you may feel quite sore for a day or two afterwards.

I am middle aged and have a chronic arthritic condition. I often get joint pain and stiffness as a result, affecting my mobility to a degree. Sometimes, if the stiffness is in my neck and shoulders, the result can be very severe headaches. I have found that if I contact Derek and have a series of remedial massages when I feel my body tightening up badly, he can almost always prevent things from getting any worse. In fact, I usually feel an immediate improvement, although there is some soreness for a few days. I have also found massage to be particularly helpful as a "first aid" treatment when my muscles, especially those in my back, go into spasm from time to time. It takes a few visits and some gentle work, but along with the advice he gives me, the result is immense relief!
