They cook with the best ingredients here and it shows. Its friendly and presentible. If you want to eat somewhere the food comes first rather than trendiness or decor or ambiance then treat yourself to a meal at The Comfy Pew. I knocked one off my rating for the toilets You have to wander around outside to find them, but I feel mean doing it.

  • 10 The Best Pew in the City

I have visisted this restaurant about 5 times now. Simple the best in food, service and atmosphere. On first walking through the door you feel welcome. The food is of local produce and the chef really does love to cook. It to the best. Combining differant flavours and lovely combinations. Definately a winner for me.

  • 10 Simply outstanding

We eat at the Comfy Pew after overhearing a recommendation. Set near the cathedral we felt at ease from the moment we walked in. They only had one chef on the night we went, but rather than fill the restaurant and make the money they turned people away so as to concentrate on a half full house.

The service was friendly and first class, attentive but unobtrusive and the food sourced from many local ingredients showed real thought and originality from the superb chef. At the end of the night the bill was extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend enough. GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 10 Unexpected surprise

While looking for an Italian restaurant in Gloucester, unsuccessfully, we stumbled across one of the best eateries that i have ever experienced. Tucked away near the cathedral this was fine dining on an understated scale.

There were 6 of us for a Saturday lunchtime and no one was in the slightest bit dissapointed with the food served by the attentive and friendly staff.

There were garlic mushrooms to die for followed by a local pork dish and an exquisite creme brulee for dessert.

This establishment shows what can be done when a restauranter can be bothered to get out there and find the best LOCAL produce and then take care and skill into preparing it.

The bill when it arrived was another pleasant surprise with 6 meals for little over £120 including wine.

Fantastic food and great service and highly recommended.
