Brief business description

Serving the battery industry since 1957, Bitrode Corporation was founded in St.Louis, Missouri as a supplier of formation charging equipment for lead-acid battery plates.

During the 1960s, Bitrode Corporation expanded the formation charging business and added production line and laboratory testing equipment to the product range. The products were developed to meet the growing technical demands of the battery industry, to provide customers with high quality charging and testing tools that would enable them to meet emerging industry standards and the changing demands of the battery market.

Our emphasis on meeting industry standards and developing custom-designed equipment made it natural that we should provide charging and testing equipment for the growing advanced battery industry as well. Manufacturers in many battery chemistries have found that they can rely on Bitrode for innovative design solutions, built to the highest standards, for all their development and production needs.

In the 1990’s Bitrode recognized the need for a greater international presence in view of the developing worldwide markets and established offices in Europe and the Far East to provide sales and technical advice and support to these territories.

From its start in 1957 as Meteor Production Engineering the company has grown to a workforce of 120. Sales growth in the last decade has been over 500% and this success is a reflection of Bitrode’s dedication to meeting customers’ needs for custom designed, high quality production and laboratory equipment.
